It all started with a morning when I woke up and my back was in so much pain that I couldn’t move. One trip in the ambulance was followed by several hours waiting in the emergency room – they thought I was just there for back pain and that isn’t exactly a high priority.
When they tried to treat me for the pain and send me home, I had to demand that they do further tests. Thankfully, they finally agreed and I was admitted into the hospital. The next day, doctors saw that there was something seriously wrong.
I have now been diagnosed with Stage 4 Metastatic Breast Cancer, which means it has moved into my bones and throughout my body to many different places.
The second video is a little look into what has been my home for the last few weeks. I am so grateful for the staff here and to have a private place to connect with friends and family.
Trust your own intuition! You know your body better than anyone and it will try to tell you when something is wrong!
I definitely wish that I was back home but it is in my nature to find friends and try to stay positive no matter where I am. So, it is no surprise that I have quickly become the Queen of the Cancer Ward!
