Want to help me help abused and neglected children? Here’s how.

Before this diagnosis and before I even started to feel the symptoms of this cancer, I was passionate about advocating for children and teens who do not grow up with the love and support that they should have to succeed.

I love working with St John’s Ambulance’s Dog Therapy program and adored spending time with teens at risk and teens who were in the correctional system. When I was doing my Finding Shelley Desrochers podcast series I discovered just how many children who come out of foster care end up in trafficking – as they don’t have the support they need to choose a better path.

For my birthday this year, I want no presents, flowers or even cards. If you are thinking of me, all I want is a donation to an organization that I work with that is doing amazing advocacy work for those in foster care.

Child Welfare Political Action Committee speaks to government representatives and assesses the current government system in order to establish real positive change for those who are in foster care and those who are transitioning out into adulthood.

If you have a spare $5, $20, $100, $1Million, please consider giving it to this cause and organization. I know that every dollar spent is put towards helping children who need more love and support from those who are meant to protect them (which is all of us).

I have set up a GoFundMe just for this project which you can find HERE. Please have a look and see what you can do to help.

A few months ago, I was told that my boobs are trying to kill me and being misdiagnosed for two years allowed them to recruit throughout the rest of my body by way of my spine. Before this, I knew f*ck all about cancer. Now, between sipping chemo cocktails, I want to talk about the truth of living with Stage 4 Breast Cancer with my support system and people I have met along the way to recovery.
