Food

In addition to the medications and the new daily routine, one of the major things that changed quickly in my life after my diagnosis is my diet. I was never someone who really spent all that much time in the kitchen thinking about what was best to put in my body and now it is something that I think about.

Looking back at the hospital, I was actually pleasantly surprised when I got there that you don’t have a standard dinner delivered to you every day anymore and just have to deal with whatever you get. You can order your food like room service.

In the hospital, I was trying to focus on the little joys. One of them was that I could have jello any time I wanted!

At that time, we were learning all about the foods that you should and shouldn’t eat when fighting cancer and much to my disappointment I discovered that Cancer Loves Sugar!

Now that I am home, my mom/Food Coordinator Nancy is the queen of the kitchen and makes sure that I get everything that I need. I even have my own fridge!
