GalPal Power Update: Surgery

Karla: Update 3 days before surgery

Diane Linden: http://health.sunnybrook.ca/cancer/cancer-and-positive-thinking/

I shared this article with Karla recently as it really struck a chord with me. It’s a Canadian doctor in Toronto at Sunnybrook who talks about how it’s good to be positive sometimes but it works against you to be positive all the time. You need to feel what you need to feel!

Colleen Cormier: 💗💗💗💗you are special and brave and giving and so important to so many people!!!! You are a teacher, a leader, a mother, sister, daughter, mentor and friend…your purpose is already your story, and so many of ours too! Xx love you Karla😇💗 you already rule your world and are so important to all of us!!

Cindy P: Karla. Rule #1. YOU ARE ENOUGH! Rule #2 Refer to rule #1 ❤

Linda Riddoch: You may not be climbing mountains but you are breaking down walls and opening us all up to courage, positivity and love of life. This is what you are giving back. Sharing with us helps us learn and grow and we will pay it forward also. Despite all you have to deal with you are still unselfishly worrying about others … your family, your teen group and the other wonderful women in this chat . How could you ever question what you are contributing? You give so much. And you inspire us every day. 😘

Kelly Jung: Who cares what other people think? Karla keep doing what you love. You are inspiring for everyone. Thank you so much for your videos/ postings etc…how bravery you are! & yes, everyone is different pls don’t ever think about the worst. Let’s look at the bright future you are going to have surgery!! & you will get better. I believe so.&you have every reason to be get well. 🙏🙏🙏

Nan: This made me smile after I watched your video. I hope it makes you smile

Sylvie Joncas Scott: Right now, nothing else matters than YOU getting better. And you will succeed if you do it your way! Only your very special way! As you have done your whole life…very differently than others. And that is why we all love you so much! ❤

Andrea Uzunov: Hi Karla, on October 12th, 2018 at 11:00 am (local time in Prague) I received your update. Since then, I have to say that brave and positive are your attributes to how you have been coping with your situation. I cannot state it better than any of all the wonderful women you have on this thread. Continue to do what you are doing and never let anyone question how you do it. You once stated that cancer patients are different in what they experience and how they approach it…you are a game changer… kind, cheery, generous and very special, so go your own way regardless of what others do in your circumstances. I wish for you successful surgery this week and…know that I have been thinking of you since your update on October 12th last year. Thank you Karla for expressing yourself so honestly and sharing your thoughts and reflections that are so valuable and relevant for so many people. When you return from your surgery, take your time (and no stress) until you feel better to share again. We are waiting for you girl!!! Lots of love from Prague. Andrea U, XO❤😀

Cristina: Thinking of you, praying for you, believing in you, hoping with you. All my strength and energy is with you on Thursday. ❤ U K!

Erin: Hey Karla!

I want to let you know I am thinking of you while you prepare for surgery! What time is your surgery on Thursday so we can all join together and pray/think about you/send positive thoughts?

(I snuck away on a 4 day vacation to Florida with my hubby before Karla’s surgery and get back the day after surgery to care for our girl!)

Kelly Doyle: Your courage and strength have been incredible throughout your journey. I hope all goes well with your surgery tomorrow. I will come and visit you as soon as you’re up for it. Love you now and forever. 💗 💗 💗

Nan: Karla as you can see, we are all with you sending positive thoughts, love and prayer. We are all holding your hand while you embark on this next journey. You are so strong!! You got this!!
Love you lots and I am busy planning the gal pal party in kenora when you get there.
Stay strong and try to keep the negative thoughts out. They only create worry and that doesn’t help anything. Keep thinking forward
Love you lots from the whole family❤💕😘

Al says the surgery is scheduled for 8 am tomorrow

Janice: Sending you Love and powerful prayers Kars. I will see you during your recovery when you are up for a visit. Lots of love to you. With the power of this group’s spirit you will pull through strong! 💕💕Janice Cole and Aiden xoxo

Pat: Thank you for the timing update! Marking it down for special prayers 🙏 at that time. My Bible study group which meets tmrw. will be praying too. I’m confident it will go well. You’ve already come a long way, Karla!

Carrie Rankin: Thinking of you Karla!! Tomorrow is the beginning of another new journey for you. I’m so excited for you. I have no doubt that your surgery is going to bring you a new lease on life and maybe even a little dancing. I’m excited to go through this new journey with you, just trying to think of a good theme song for our dance parties.
Luv ya sister friend XOXO❤❤❤

Cheryl: Thinking of you Karla today as you prepare for your surgery💕you are strong and surrounded by so much energy from family, friends and your gal pal power group! When you are up to it there’s a little baby boy who would love to meet you!! 💙💕💙

Chrissy: I should be teaching and instead my mind is drifting and thinking about you!! You have brought together a group of women who feed off the energy of each other. We are all marvelled by your fierce determination and solely believe that your next chapter will be full of wisdom, bravery, vulnerability and humour. Sending you love. When you open your eyes after your surgery know that you are surrounded by love, ask for a warm blanket, and keep ahead of the pain. The nurses and doctors will love you and your energy, and this will add to the success of your journey. You are a fighter! XoX.

Karen Kennedy Jones: We all need to be a little easier on ourselves….

L.A.: Karla – I was sad to hear you say that there may be some people who don’t appreciate the way you ‘share’. It occurred to me that it may not be what you are sharing but HOW you are sharing that is throwing people off. You are a trendsetter and you HAVE changed the way a community of friends/family/supporters can talk about cancer. You have pulled us along on your emotional journey because you care what other people know so everyone can benefit. Please don’t stop! You are an amazing person and you have created an amazing platform that allows people from around the world to participate in. I am wishing you the very best for a smooth operation and recuperation. Much 💕 from Winnipeg

Karla: A message from Tony

Jo Kenny: Sending you huge good luck vibes for tomorrow Karla. You’ve got this!! Not going to lie, I’m looking forward to all the inappropriate comments that will come out of your mouth when you’re waking up! 😉😘 🤗

Linda Martin: Hi Karla: thank you for opening up a previous black box of the journey of cancer. The transparency you bring is refreshing and inspiring and allows all of us a new access to the experience of life at a whole new level. When I think of purpose for you in this situation and what you have brought to this group of incredible individuals is this-to create connections with others in spaces unknown. A trailblazer for sure. Our prayers are with you tonight as you prepare for a new journey tomorrow. Love the Martin-Reil’s

Colleen Cormier: Love this!!! Tony, Nancy, Diane and of course our Karla💗💗💗💗 best of luck tomorrow, you guys are all an awesome team family Xx

Cheryl: Amazing family💗love, support and laughter is the best way to go into tomorrow!! You have got this Karla 💕✨💕

Heather Stefanson: Thinking of you Karla. Can’t wait for the inappropriate comments tomorrow! I have been reading and watching and admiring this gal pal chat and am in awe of your bravery and determination. Know that the gal pals are there with you. Big hugs to you my friend! You got this! Debbie: I will be thinking of you tomorrow Karla. Thank you for opening your journey to all of us. I admire your strength and courage. Still you are thinking of helping others by educating others about cancer treatments.
You have always been leading the way in helping those the in need. You look as beautiful as ever in your videos. Our healing thoughts and prayers will be with you tomorrow. Love you. ❤

Lisa: Karla we are thinking of you even more today and sending you so much power and healing energy. Remember “you are stronger than you know, braver than you think …and more loved than you can imagine.”
xo xo 😘

Linda Riddoch: Praying for a wonderful outcome from this surgery ! Sending you positive healing thoughts. I’m a little surprised there wasn’t a podcast from the OR this morning !!! Lol!

Diane Linden: I (sister Diane )am at hospital with Al and surgeon just informed us that it went well and they accomplished what they had hoped. She will be in recovery for 2-3 hours and then we will get to see her. We want to thank you all for your incredible messages of support. She so appreciates them !

About The Author

A few months ago, I was told that my boobs are trying to kill me and being misdiagnosed for two years allowed them to recruit throughout the rest of my body by way of my spine. Before this, I knew f*ck all about cancer. Now, between sipping chemo cocktails, I want to talk about the truth of living with Stage 4 Breast Cancer with my support system and people I have met along the way to recovery.
