GalPal Power Update: Feb 14

One of the most amazing things to come out of my cancer diagnosis is that it has brought so many incredible people back into the forefront of my life. Right from the beginning, I have been so blessed to receive messages of support from all over the world from friends, family, former colleagues and others I have met and connected with throughout my life.

As I took stock of these message a few months ago, I started to realize how many strong and powerful women I have in my life. I wanted to create a network where they could all meet each other and we could all over support, stories and laughs.

I started a WhatsApp group that now includes dozens of women that inspire me on a daily basis. I want to give you all a little glimpse into this group, including some of the updates that I share there.

Carol Devine:

Rachel Ross: Had an awesome visit with the lovely Karla yesterday. She spent the whole time giving ME advice about work and family issues. Thanks for the therapy session Karla! Happy ❤Day!

Alena Proulx: Joyful 😇happy St.Valentine 💞dear Karla😘 Ali with family from Prague

Karla: Zach dressed for semi-formal.

Cristina Duguay: From us in Qc 😳😂

Karen Kennedy Jones: Happy Valentine’s Day Everyone! Nothing says I love you more than your 15 year old daughter buying you red roses with her own money from her job as a cashier at No Frills…xoxo

Carrie Rankin: Awww Karen that is so sweet. I got an early birthday present for valentines from Mike and Michelle. What great kids we have raised. Mine a little too extravagant but how do you say no?

Karla:

The best part was I have the most intense hot flashes and came home and showered and then crawled into bed.

Linda Radcliffe: Thanks for filling us in, Karla. I suspect we all realized the past few days were tough for you. It IS difficult to un-funk a funk!! Hope the nausea has abated. Be kind to yourself the next few days; we all have 🤞🤞🤞 that the results next week will please you! ❤💕❤

Colleen Cormier: Thank you babe for posting such real sensitive personal moments Karla. As l sit watching you talk, l admire how calm and determined and focused you are. I’m so sorry this week was so tough for you. You are a ray of sunshine in all of our crazy days. You put all our bad shit into perspective…you keep strong, continue the fight and in doing so, you are so beautiful inside and out. 💞😘😍❤

Zdenka Prerovska: Hi Karla, happy you are back❤So proud of your attitude to fight through depression and all the chemo side effects. I hope you did release, just cry when you feel like😂it is not weakness. You fight strong ❤❤. You can do it❤ . Love you❤Happy you have your though week behind you and praying for good results❤❤. Take some rest and comfort yourself with some good movies❤

Karen Kennedy Jones: Karla I feel like we are similar in many ways as probably most of us are on this chat. I know you are a leader and a person who inspires your family friends and colleagues. You likley look at yourself as the one who is expected to be always positive and unbeatable and the life of the party in so many ways. I often feel like it’s my responsibly be all these things … You may feel the world expects this of you and I feel compelled to tell you that it’s OK TO NOT BE OK ALL THE TIME … We all love hearing from you and if you aren’t up to it we totally understand. Please look after yourself first. As we all need to be reminded to “put on your own oxygen mask first”… We are all strong “get er done” ladies that all need to be reminded to put ourselves first! At certain times we have to give ourselves space to not be OK if we need that…I love you Karla and be kind to yourself Xoxoxo

About The Author

A few months ago, I was told that my boobs are trying to kill me and being misdiagnosed for two years allowed them to recruit throughout the rest of my body by way of my spine. Before this, I knew f*ck all about cancer. Now, between sipping chemo cocktails, I want to talk about the truth of living with Stage 4 Breast Cancer with my support system and people I have met along the way to recovery.
